JaneAnne has always loved working with kids. She has spent many hours volunteering in Asheville City Schools, as well as years as a children’s yoga instructor. She believes that every opportunity to teach and work with kids is another opportunity to learn and gain insight from their perspectives.
JaneAnne has a B.A. in Child Psychology from University of North Carolina-Chapel Hill in Child Psychology, an M.S. in Human Resources from Western Carolina University, and a degree in College and Career Counseling from the University of California-Los Angeles. She has been working as a college counselor since 2013. Prior to coming to Franklin, she spent two years at Carolina Day School. She has also worked as a Human Resources director.
“Working with young adults as they figure out a plan for moving forward from high school is incredibly rewarding.” She believes that there are varying possibilities and encourages students to consider their options carefully. According to the Washington Post, “Today, there are some 5,300 colleges and universities in the United States, everything from beauty schools to Harvard.” Exploring the choices can be stressful. JaneAnne tries to make the process less overwhelming, getting students excited for what comes next.
Outside of her role at Franklin, JaneAnne enjoys cooking, crafting and spending time in her herb garden. But, most importantly, she relishes her time with her spouse, and pups in the outdoors, and with her kids when they come home for a home cooked meal.
